Emperor's Finest (Fluff)

"Into the fires of battle we go," said Brother Captain Adama

"Unto the anvil of war we strike," replied the Space Marines.

"We are the Ultramarines, Warriors of the Emperor, and our bravery is beyond question! It is the stuff of the soul-forge, stronger than adamantium and enduring as the Immortal Emperor, Himself. The fires of battle are our places of worship, the roar of bolters our prayers, and the slaughter of our foes an offering to the gods of battle!"

"Our bolters are charged with death," promised the assembled Space Marines. "They are the divine wrath of the Emperor!"

"Charge my brothers, let no one defy the Emperor's Finest for you are Space Marines and you are bred for WAR!"

- Brother-Captain Adama's words for Patrol Octavian, codename: Harbinger
Take-And-Hold Formation over Agrarium Delacos (Grid 11)

++ (ART) The Iron Warriors entered a grid controlled by a suprise army (Grid 27). It's a patrol of a variant Space Marines list as presented in one of last year's issue of White Dwarf.

Art (Iron Warriors) vs Obi (Space Marines Variant)

++ (JUSTIN) Traitorous squads of the Black Legion will try to take over the Mandarin Armoury (Special Grid 18) ahead of the flanking Raven Guard patrol. This was met by a surprise army... a resistance cell of Imperial Guards... those who were left faithful to the Emperor from Fespal Third, bolstered by the local militia.

Justin (Black Legion) vs. Gelo (Imperial Guards)

++ (RYAN) The Salamanders charged their way towards the C&C Building (Special Grid 09) only to find out that it was infested by a suprise army of greenskins... the Space Orks! None shall taint the land of the Imperium, and the Space Marines of the Salamanders Chapter are intent to cleanse Oakwood of any Xenos threat!

Ryan (Salamanders) vs Gelo (Space Orks)

++ (LITO vs. JEFF) Nothing sees clearly through the fog of war. Such is the case in Grid 29, when two different Orders Militia from the Adeptas Sororitas clashed for battle. Whether from an old internal grudge or simply a case of "friendly fire", these Sisters of Battle will stop at none to reach their objectives.

Lito (Sisters of Battle) vs Jeff (Sisters of Battle)

Other Rules and Special Grids:

*There are incentives for an army that will control a Special Grid, as follows:
C&C Building (Grid 09) - allows you to have an extra movement choice. (3 movement choices now)

Maintenance Grid (Grid 30) - one of your movement choice can be anywhere that is NOT adjacent to your controlled grids, NOT a special grid, and NOT an occupied territory.

Oakwood PDF Barracks (Grid 32) - before starting a battle, roll a dice. On a 5 or 6, you will have access to 10 conscripts with the following stats...
WS: 2, BS: 2, St: 3, T: 3, In: 3, Att: 1, Ld: 7, Sv: 6+
Weapon: Las Pistols and CCW, Infiltrate if the game allows it.

Armoury (Grid 18) - you can add up to 40 points of free weapon and/or wargear upgrades. This should not be spent for any psychic or daemonic items.

*Players can not intentionally forfeit a movement choice. There should always be at least two move choices per player.

*As discussed before, there will be "surprise" armies on randomly determined neutral (unoccupied) grids. It will be a choice among the Dark Angels, Legion of the Damned, Alpha Legion, Space Orkz, or Dark Eldars. These will be randomly determined too by the game coordinators.

*Apparently, I will not be playing anymore, I'll just officiate the games and play for some of the surprise armies. So officially, I (Obi) am a game coordinator too, for now.

*NOTE: For players fighting a surprise army: if fighting over a non-Special Grid, players' objective will always be Foothold of the ROE; if fighting over a Special Grid, players' objective will always be Lightning Raid of the ROE. Surprise armies' objectives will always be to thwart you players of your objectives.

*****

Game coordinators are now officially accepting movement choices. Let us know what two grids you wanted to occupy before Wednesday.

Beneath the Surface of War (Fluff)

The bulk of the Planetary Defense Force retreated to the Southern Farm Grid and established a false sense of security to what was left of the populace. By the third week of the rebel's assault on the Eastern Farm Grid, they have blockaded the main arteries toward Tower One. Without supplies coming in from the countryside and with only one operational allied Farm Grid, Tower One - Laya Secundus's seat of power - will eventually fall to the rebels.

Unexpectedly, what was once ignored as small cells of insurgents grew to implausible numbers. Even bolstered by the traitorous regiment of the Fespal Third, a province-wide devastation of this scale was not possible. Assaults have been reported to come from almost all the border grids of Oakwood as the PDF's numbers dwindle to a couple of squads strength.

Still hoping for the light of the Emperor, the remaining forces of the local militia fortified their positions for a final stand to defend Tower One... and perhaps, the whole Makat Subsector.

"Yes, Interrogator-Chaplain," Azariel said, nodding his assent to the cloaked warrior. "Our Battle-Brothers have been fully briefed of the objective."

The hooded visage of a skull turned to face the battlefield, the sound of war echoing in the distance. "Very well, Brother Azariel. Once the objective is captured, we are to leave immediately for Caliban. Their war is not ours to undertake." He waved his crozius arcanum to dismiss the Space Marine.

The Reclusiarch knew full well that the planet needed immediate military reinforcements. Nevertheless, a Deathwing brethren knew that, above all, to hunt the Fallen was the only way for utter absolution. Such was the fate of the Unforgiven.

*****

"Grid 45-Alpha, secured," Trooper Reinthold reported, adjusting the comm array. "Sentinel Squad on area patrol and ready for next sortie."

Amidst fits of static bursts, a seething voice replied from the other end of the comm lines. "Hold yar posssition, ssoldier, an wait for ma men'sss advance." Then, there was a bizarre gibberish followed by a long wheezing sound. "Give em cover fire an sssee that they fulfill thee will ov thee true godsss! Chaosss!!!"

The transmition abruptly ended but as if instict, itself, has commanded him, Trooper Reinthold opened another channel to the patrol vox cast.

"Fespal Third, clear a path for the cult brethren!"

Campaign Rules and Regulations (Rules Update)

Campaign Map and Movements
- The campaign map will be posted on February 20. It will be divided into territorial grids where the participating armies can expand his control to eventually capture the main grid, Tower One.

- Each players will have a designated starting grid for his army at the edges of the map, randomly determined by the game coordinator. All starting grids will be equidistant to the main grid, of course. This represents the external forces coming in from the state outskirts towards Tower One to either aid the PDF's having a last stand in it or reinforce the enemy onslaught towards that vital administration complex.

- Players must have two separate moves to any adjacent grids per week for his army. These moves will be resolved simultaneously games-wise. For example, Grid A is only adjacent to Grids B, C, and D. The player should choose two out of these three movement options: moving from Grid A to Grid B, moving from Grid A to Grid C, and/or moving from Grid A to Grid D.

- Army movements should be declared to the game coordinator every Monday. Kindly send your movement instructions to him via PM, email, phone call, SMS, or psychic conference . Failure to do so means forfeiture of moves for that week.

- Do note that the game objective is to expand your territory by capturing eight or more grids until you reach Tower One and seize control of it.

Game Rules
- Following the rules in moving forces, the armies could either end up on an enemy grid or a neutral territory (unoccupied grid). If your force enters an enemy grid or a neutral territory with another army entering it, then a match commences between the involved factions.

- It will be possible that three or more armies could end up on the same grid. This calls for a multiple battle. The involved factions will battle it out on a 6x4 table.

- Regular games between two armies will be played on a 4x4 table.

- The format for composition of the army list is as follows:

*Games will be at 500 points. This represents the small-scale nature of the crisis.
*40K in 40 Minutes Force Organization chart will be used with 1 Troops slot as mandatory choice.
*Allies are not allowed.
*No special characters.
*No 2+ saves of any kind.
*No vehicles can have an armor value greater than 33 ( front + side + rear)
*No ordnance weapons
*No models with more than 2 wounds

- You may change your army lists before the game

- All games, except for the main grid (Tower One), will use scenarios generated by GW's "40K Rules of Engagement (ROE)". ROE is an objective-based scenario system which gives players a random set of missions and deployment options to play with. Read more about ROE in this link:
http://uk.games-workshop.com/warhammer4000...2Dengagement/1/

Or you can download a copy here:
http://uk.games-workshop.com/download/down...-engagement.pdf

It's advisable if you come to play with your own copy of the ROE.

- Given the ROE system will be used, games will conclude to three different scenarios:

*If one side achieves its objective and the other doesn't, then control of that grid goes to the winner.

*If neither army achieves its objectives then both sides withdraw from that territory and the grid becomes neutral.

*If both sides achieve their objective, then that territory is in contention. Both players lose one move for the next campaign turn (one can potentially lose all the moves if there are a lot of territories in contention), unless one or both sides withdraw from that territory. If both sides leave, then that territory becomes neutral. Declaration to withdraw is done simultaneously.

- along the way, some neutral grids will not be neutral at all as the game coordinator have randomly selected grids that will be occupied by "surprise armies". Fluff will explain soon at the other thread.

Tower One and Campaign Objective
- If you have been able to conquer at least 8 territories and control an adjacent territory to the main grid called Tower One, you can opt to attack it. Play a 1000 point game with the following slots only: 1 HQ, 2 Elites, 2 Fast Attack, 2 Heavy, and 6 Troops choices. Mission will always be an ALPHA level - TAKE AND HOLD.

Should you lose the game or draw from it, you lose control of 8 territories (or until how many you control, if less than 8)

Should you be able to hold on to Tower One until the end of the campaign then you are declared Master of Oakwood and can either proclaim the glory of the Imperium or spread the foul stench of Chaos or expand the greater good. Whatever works for you

Deadline for signing up is Friday of this week (February 17) and official start will be on Monday next week, as the map will be posted and the first campaign movements solicited.

I'll try to come up with a website for the campaign so we can have something to put every stuff on. If you've read the fluff of the revolt, I also wanted to have all participating armies to have a fluff regarding the specifics of their involvement on the war. This is a short backgrounder that I can do for you. So either I formulate a whole new fluff for your army, or give me details of what you wanted to come up with and iL do the rest.

*****

By the way, Gelo will be the game coordinator. I am thinking of creating a small "token" for he-who'L-sack-the-tower. Nothing big really. Just a thingamabob to brag around for winning the campaign. I'm thinking an objective marker will do. iL not paint it though... I don't have the time. Basta iL do something.

Fanning the Flames (Fluff)

I'm sorry, but I don't want to be an Emperor - that's not my business. I don't want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone. We all want to help one another; human beings are like that. We want to live by each other's happiness, not by each other's misery. We don't want to hate and despise one another. In this world there's room for everyone and the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone.

The way of life can be free and beautiful.

But we have lost the way.

Greed has poisoned men's souls, has barricaded the world with hate, has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical, our cleverness hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery, we need humanity. More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.

My voice is reaching millions throughout the world, millions of despairing men, women, and little children, victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people.

To those who can hear me I say, "Do not despair." The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed, the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass and dictators die; and the power they took from the people will return to the people and so long as men die, liberty will never perish.

Soldiers: Don't give yourselves to brutes, men who despise you, enslave you, who regiment your lives, tell you what to do, what to think and what to feel; who drill you, diet you, treat you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder. Don't give yourselves to these unnatural men, machine men, with machine minds and machine hearts! You are not machines! You are not cattle! You are men! You have the love of humanity in your hearts. You don't hate; only the unloved hate.

Soldiers: Don't fight for slavery! Fight for liberty! You the people have the power, the power to create machines, the power to create happiness. You the people have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure.

Then, in the name of democracy, let us use that power! Let us all unite!! Let us fight for a new world, a decent world that will give men a chance to work, that will give you the future and old age a security. By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power, but they lie! They do not fulfill their promise; they never will. Dictators free themselves, but they enslave the people!! Now, let us fight to fulfill that promise!! Let us fight to free the world, to do away with national barriers, to do away with greed, with hate and intolerance. Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men's happiness.

Soldiers: In the name of democracy, let us all unite!

Rebels of Oakwood (Fluff)

The agro-province of Oakwood... capital state of the backwater planet Laya Secundus in Makat Subsector. What was once a pristine breadbasket is now being ravaged by radical incursions as village after village on the fertile countryside were being razed to the ground for reasons undisclosed of its true nature. The local militia had suffered serious blows as vital military installations were raided by what was described by witnesses as "ruthless men in Imperial regalia".

True to the sightings, native intelligence gathered evidences that the Third Fespal Regiment has turned to side with the rebel factions. These Imperial Guardsmen were stationed in Laya Secundus several months ago as counter insurgency unit to quell the escalating tensions that the guerillas were spawning. After some time within the murky battlegrounds on the provincial outskirts, most of the soldiers of Fespal Third have not returned to their Oakwood HQ and were never heard of again. As if an omen, assaults on the agricultural capital upsurged to incredulous instances on the weeks that followed. The rebels, like before, have only destroyed residential and commercial establishments, deliberately leaving the farmland and its precious crops intact.

Oakwood is the primary provider of "cox" in the entire subsector. Cox is an important grain hybrid which is a staple among the inhabitants of Makat. Whatever the rebels intend to do with the crops, the Imperium of Man could not allow an entire subsector's worth of resources to fall into the wrong hands.

He, who controls Oakwood State, owns the cox harvests. He, who owns the cox harvests, rules Makat Subsector!

*****

"Commander!"

He barely heard the call amidst the chaos of battle just outside the makeshift Command Center.

"Commander Harkon!"

The burly man on the Planetary Defense Force's combat drab traced the source of the voice. "Here, corporal!" Commander Harkon hailed, trickles of sweat flowing from his wide-set forehead.

The agitated corporal rushed towards his PDF superior as another explosion racked the surroundings, debris and plasteel fragments dropping from almost everywhere. The young soldier interjected a yelp before mustering composure to speak. "Commander, the rebels have breached the inner barricades! They will be upon us any moment now!"

Harkon looked outside, past the charred walls of the Command Center and into the farm grid outside. Precision bombing has left the cox agrariums mostly unscathed while defense sheds were devastated. His men defiantly charged the frontlines while those farmers, who had the blind courage to stay, did their best to hastily salvage harvested crops before the evacuation call. He knows that eventually the farm grid will fall.

"Corporal, set off the evac signal. We are to rendezvous on the Southern Farm Grid," Commander Harkon ordered, then turned to face the nearby communication station. "We can no longer hold this farm grid," he added, mumbling to no one in particular. "It's best to fortify the defenses elsewhere."

The corporal snapped a salute before striding away to signal the retreat.

"Comms, any result from the emergency beacon?" the PDF commander inquired to the nearest communication officer.

The haggard-looking soldier consulted his datapad, then faced his superior with a frown. "Sir, no counter-signals has been received from the past eight hours. By the condition of our hailing beacons..." he paused in midsentence as another explosion sent shockwaves enough to slightly shove them off-balance, "...Sir, we could only pray for the Almighty Emperor's mercy for anyone amongst his warriors to intercept our plea for aid."

The Battle for Oakwood (Welcome Note)

Welcome to the fold! The revolt is at hand!

40K players from around Makati will battle it out to either seize or save the last fulcrum that holds the entire Makat Subsector... the seat of power, Tower One!

The path is not anywhere near easy. As various factions with their own devious schemes heeded to the beacon call raised by the Planetary Defense Force, the capital state of Oakwood is in utter confusion and anarchy; that while players trudge warily towards the defended goal, they will encounter hostile armies along the way and more often clash among themselves.

Who will survive to challenge the last stand at Tower One?

The future is vague. Only one thing is certain... WAR!!!

All campaign particulars will be posted in this site.
